Over the past four years, WiredScore has been on an incredible journey.
First founded in 2013 in partnership with Mayor Bloomberg and the City of New York with the mission of promoting best-in-class internet connectivity in commercial buildings, it wasn’t long before WiredScore came across the pond – the best ideas are always borrowed – to become London’s official digital connectivity rating scheme.
Since then, we’ve expanded throughout the US, UK and into continental Europe. Working with over 300 clients globally, we’re supporting digitally-minded developers and landlords to ensure that their properties are fit for both the modern and future business.
And we’re delighted today to announce another great step forward for the company, after having secured major new investment.
An investment team, led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Fifth Wall Ventures, has acquired a majority share in WiredScore. This will be instrumental in supporting us as we work to achieve our aim of becoming the global digital connectivity rating scheme for commercial real estate.
We’ve already taken massive strides towards that goal this year, with launches in three further European countries: France, Ireland and Germany. Wired Certification is becoming a trusted international standard for landlords to demonstrate the great digital investments they’re making in their properties, and for tenants to verify that buildings provide the degree of connectivity that their businesses require to thrive.
And with people asking us when – not if – WiredScore will be arriving in their country, we’re pleased to have Bessemer, Fifth Wall and our other minority investors on board as we make Wired Certification borderless.
Commenting on the investment Brendan Wallace, CEO and co-founder of Fifth Wall Ventures, said “Buildings are no longer just a protection against elements: they are a nexus of connectivity. WiredScore is the industry standard, providing the most dynamic measure for that essential technological capacity.”
He continued, “We’re excited to partner with their team to build a future where technology is seamlessly and more powerfully integrated into physical spaces.”
